Porcelain Paving across Norfolk

Our porcelain paving projects run the length and breadth of Norfolk, from period town-centre gardens to open new-build plots. Outdoor porcelain itself is frost- and stain-resistant wherever it is laid, but a patio that stays level and safe underfoot for decades depends on correct falls, jointing and a bedding layer suited to the local ground, whether that is low-lying west-Norfolk clay or fast-draining Breckland sand. Pick your town below for the local detail.

Porcelain has become the go-to patio surface across Norfolk because it shrugs off frost, algae and stains that leave natural stone looking tired. The material is only ever as good as its installation, though: 20mm outdoor porcelain must be laid on a full mortar bed with a primer or slurry coat, correct falls for drainage, and proper movement detailing. Done properly it will look identical in twenty years; done badly it lifts, cracks and holds water. That is the difference our groundwork makes.

Why Norfolk homeowners choose us for porcelain paving

  • Frost- and stain-resistant tiles that shrug off the Norfolk winter and stay looking new
  • Correct falls and drainage designed in so water clears and the patio stays safe underfoot
  • A huge range of finishes to match period and modern properties alike

What to know about porcelain paving in Norfolk

A few things worth understanding before you commit, so you can compare quotes on more than just price.

Use 20mm outdoor porcelain, not indoor tiles

Outdoor porcelain is a thick, textured, slip-rated product engineered for frost and foot traffic. We only lay proper 20mm external-grade tiles, bedded and primed correctly, not thin indoor tiles that fail outside.

Falls and drainage keep it safe underfoot

A patio needs a slight, correct fall away from the house so water clears rather than pooling and freezing. We design the falls and drainage in from the start, the detail that keeps porcelain safe and stain-free.

The bedding layer decides its lifespan

Porcelain has near-zero porosity, so it must be laid on a full mortar bed with a bonding primer, never spot-fixed. That full bed is what stops tiles rocking, cracking or lifting years down the line.

Wayne is another level when it comes to groundworks and landscaping! He’s done pretty much our whole property. He built us a gorgeous office in the garden recently, and the artificial grass installed nearly 7 years ago by Wayne still looks amazing. Thanks Wayne!

From sorting out work previously messed up by someone else, to quotes, advice and everything in between, Wayne and Rick have been truly amazing. I struggle to find workmen I can trust and who take pride in their work, these two tick both boxes. Highly recommend for all your gardening, renovation and building needs. I am over the moon with my garden and garden room. Reasonably priced and very thorough!

Wayne, Ricky and the team did some work for us back in 2022, putting in a granite block driveway and some waste drainage as part of a new ensuite conversion. Clean, tidy and completed on time and on budget as quoted. Never had an issue, very happy repeat customer.

Porcelain Paving across Norfolk, your questions

Do you cover the whole of Norfolk?

Yes. We run out of Norwich and get to every part of the county, from the Yarmouth and Gorleston side across to King's Lynn and Downham Market, up to Cromer and Holt, and down through Wymondham, Attleborough and Thetford. The list on this page is not exhaustive. If your village is not on it, ring 01603 516619 and ask, because we almost certainly still come to you.

Does the ground where I live change the job?

More than most people expect, and it is the main reason we survey before we quote. Outdoor porcelain is frost-resistant and low-maintenance, but its longevity comes from correct falls, jointing and a stable bedding layer, the parts we tailor to each town’s ground. Clay near the Ouse, loam over clay in mid Norfolk, Breckland sand and coastal sand all behave differently once you start digging, so the specification follows your plot rather than a standard sheet.

Do you charge extra to travel across the county?

No. Travel is already accounted for in how we schedule and quote. What you pay comes down to the size of the job, the materials and what we find in the ground, not your postcode.

How long does a porcelain paving project take?

Most domestic porcelain paving jobs are finished within a few days of starting, though size and ground conditions move that either way. You get a realistic timescale with the quote and we hold to it. Several of our reviews mention how quickly the work was done and how tidy the site was left.

Are you insured and experienced?

Yes, fully insured, with more than ten years of work across Norfolk behind us and a portfolio of finished jobs you are welcome to look through. We are an established Norwich team, not a subcontractor passing through.

How do I get a quote?

Call 01603 516619 or send the online form and we will book a free site visit at your property, usually within a few days. There is no obligation and nobody will chase you afterwards.
